Cooking @ Home – Strawberries n Cream Cupcakes, Chocolate Mud Cake, Choc-banana Swiss Roll, Carrot Cake

This morning my sister made Straberries n Cream Cupcakes and Carrot Cake!

In the afternoon I made Chocolate Mud Cake and Choc-banana Swiss Roll with her.

I love decorating food to make it look more appetising and I love photography of food as well. I think presentation can influence the taste of food as well! So here are a few shots of the desserts we made today:

Strawberries n Cream Cupcakes

These were actually made from a pre-packed mix because my sister wanted to enter a competition organised by an icing cake mix company.

Chocolate Mud Cake

This was completely made from scratch and just a side note, using Lindt chocolate does in fact make a huge difference!
We both find that using Australian recipes is rather too sweet and oily so we usually cut the butter and sugar by half and it still takes just as good!

Choc-banana Swiss Roll

This was made from scratch, following a Japanese recipe book. Decoding all the Japanese was a little hard and at times we weren’t sure whether we were doing the right thing or not, especially because it has been a while since we last made Swiss rolls. However, we did okay! Compared to Australian recipes, Japanese ones tend to have just the right amount of sweetness so there’s not much need to modify ingredients.

Carrot Cake

This was made from scratch as well, following a recipe book I got for my birthday. Next time we will add more carrots just to add to the flavour that little bit more!
